Plan a Ceremony as unique as your love

When you think about your wedding day, what moment comes to mind first?
For most couples, it’s not the cake or the flowers — it’s the ceremony. The moment everything becomes real.

But planning that moment can feel overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you make sure it feels natural, personal, and not overly scripted?

Here are a few of my favourite tips from working with couples who’ve done it beautifully:

Start with the feeling, not the format.

Before you think about readings, rituals, or music, ask: What do we want this to feel like? Intimate and emotional? Joyful and fun? Once you know the feeling, the rest falls into place.

Write from the heart.

Whether it’s your vows or a note to each other before the ceremony, keep it simple and true. Perfection isn’t the goal — honesty is.

Let go of “should.”

You don’t have to follow anyone else’s version of a wedding. If a tradition doesn’t fit, don’t force it.

Think of your guests as participants, not spectators.

The best ceremonies make everyone feel part of the story.

Light and sound matter.

Plan for the time of day, the direction of the sun, and how your words will carry in the space. It changes everything.

Include loved ones meaningfully.

Invite people to read, hold rings, or simply stand beside you. The smallest roles can carry the most heart.

Choose music that moves you.

Skip the “expected” songs and go with something that makes your heart beat faster.

Make it your own.

Maybe you walk down the aisle together. Maybe you start the ceremony with a story, a poem, or a quiet moment of reflection. There’s no wrong way to begin.

Trust your celebrant.

We’re here to guide you, calm you, and create flow. You can hand over the details — it’s our job to hold them.

Breathe.

Right before you begin, pause. Take a slow breath, look around, and take it all in. You’ll never have that exact moment again.

A ceremony isn’t about performance; it’s about presence. It’s the one part of your day where you can slow down, connect, and really feel.

What part of your ceremony are you most looking forward to? I’d love to hear your thoughts below.
